i've got a golden ticket

Let me just refute the theory of "what goes around, comes around"

I like to think I am a fairly nice person most of the time. Just today I was in the mall food court with Sawyer and he was racing to the McDonalds counter when I noticed an elderly man working his way there at a much slower pace. He was in front of us, yet still a good ways back from the cashier. Oblivioius, Sawyer passed him quickly and eagerly joined the line to place his Happy Meal order. When the cashier nodded to me to take my order, I gestured to the recently arrived elderly man and told her "he's next"

Jonathan left this afternoon for Boston. Which meant I had to drive all three boys to drop Harrison off for his 45 minute tutoring session, by the time we come back home we literally have 15 minutes until it's time to go pick him up again.

Sawyer wanted a bath.

It was a quick bath, but I indulged him. Afterwards, I threw him in his Mickey pajamas and asked him to entertain Graham so he wouldn't fall asleep in the car (too close to bedtime, but he hadn't had his bottle yet!)

In hindsight, I was surely distracted trying to keep them both awake. In hindsight, I was probably feeling rushed from the bath frenzy and subsequent "get your shoes on and get back in the car we need to pick up your brother!" Normally, Sawyer and Graham stay home with Jonathan when I go to pick Harrison up on Thursday nights.

All this to say, yes, yes I WAS going 45 MPH in a 25 zone. And NO, no officer, I clearly had no idea.

I told him I was headed to pick my son up on 12th Street at 7:30 (it was 7:25)

He SAW my 4 year old with wet hair and Mickey pajamas
He SAW my crying baby
He SAW me shaking and trying not to cry

And he decided to take his sweet time issuing a citation and make me late.

Even when I offered him a 20% off at Bed, Bath, and Beyond coupon when I sifted through about ten of them in the glove compartment trying to find my registration.
so much for my winning sense of humor

Sometimes people are quickly trekking along the very best that they can, and they just need a break.

But it didn't come back around....

Jonathan says I can't show up for court just to tell officer Rob K. of Perkasie to "shove it"

But let me take the opportunity on my blog to say so, loudly.
JERK!

*and wow, major blow to my cle@vage and looks
*pps, Jonathan got pulled over a month ago (by himself) and got a warning. Oh the humanity!

suckerrrrrrrrr

Harrison outgrew his bike at the end of last Summer. Sawyer has since gladly claimed it as his own. So a new bike for Harrison was in order, and with nice weather this weekend, I thought I would make a quick stop at Target this afternoon and have him pick one out.

Since it was just H &I after attending his friend's birthday party, the task at hand seemed simple. We headed straight to the bikes (well, by way of the Band-Aides, Soft Soap and loaf of bread I also needed) Anywho, the racks were practically bare. BARE. Harrison perched upon a 6 inches too big, red mountain bike and tried convincing me it was perfect.

Don't be silly I told him. We're not going to buy this bike just because it's the only one here! We'll check Toys-R-Us! That's when the mom next to me in the bike aisle told me not to bother. "They don't have any bikes assembled and ready to buy. Just the ones in boxes" Since it was 4pm and daylight hours were limited, that just wasn't going to work.

So we went to the Target in the next town over. Nada. We went into BJs which shares a parking lot. Nope. I called Walmart on my cell phone, and they had nothing left after a frenzy of bike purchases on Saturday.

Harrison's chin quivered. He started blinking rapidly. He asked if we could go back to the original Target and buy the the first bike we had seen. The only bike we had seen.

Which is when I flew into damage-control mode. And explains how we came home with these instead. Even more exciting when you consider that we are due for rain Monday and Tuesday and you can't ride your bike in the rain, but you can shoot up your brothers, inside, until bedtime!
And who wouldn't be a sucker for this face?
Graham has been eating his meals in the baby swing since we threw away our highchair when we moved. Not exactly convenient or very clean. I finally ran over to Babies R Us last week armed with my 20% off coupon - good on any one item. One item = highchair.

Clearly.
At least someone ended up with new wheels!

sixers game

On Friday night Jonathan and Harrison headed to the Sixers game to celebrate the end of their first Upwards Basketball season (Jonathan coached Harrison's team)

Sawyer made a cameo appearance
At the end of the game, the boys got to go down to the court to shoot some baskets...
which were a little high...

look who's eating

Graham was not too impressed with oatmeal.

He much prefers to gnaw on his toys.
...and his toes. I need to get a picture of that ;)

presenting...

Harrison! All set to give his first oral presentation, and written report on former president, Andrew Jackson. The room mom was able to video tape the presentations, and I can't tell you how much I am looking forward to watching - I'm guessing the kids didn't look up from their index cards once - should be absolutely adorable!
I have no idea why Blogger keeps flipping this image???
