day of rest.

Oh please. So, we don't exactly get to rest and relax on Sunday, really the only difference is Jonathan forbids me from going to the mall...

We do have some routines for the day though, starting with matching/coordinated outfits. If my boys don't match for church it can ruin my entire day. Seriously.

After church we always stop for donuts - chocolate for Harrison and NO sprinkles. Then in the afternoon I'll take the boys to pick out a movie and we all watch it together before bed. I try to argue that if I'm frequenting the donut shop and movie store, really why should the mall be off limits? Keeping the sabbath holy is so subjective.

fruit salad. yummy, yummy

Lame, but one of my "secret recipes" is fruit salad. I use Dole Tropical Fruit as a base, the juices keep the apples from turning brown and it just plain tastes good! I normally use 2 cans, strawberries, 2 apples, grapes and one orange (never bananas) then I top it with kiwi. It serves about 12 and I know it seems silly to share a recipe for fruit salad - but trust me, you really can tell a difference with the Dole fruit in there!

Jonathan's college friends were visiting from Boston today, Jack on the far left was our ring bearer when we got married!

photo tag!

A fun tag from Monique's blog! This is supposed to capture everyday life without staging things in your home...

This is a self portrait, so here I am...with my shadow.
Most Popular Potty. I think all our bathrooms (except the guest bath) receive equal usage, but you haven't seen the boys pirate themed bath before, so I chose that one. It was tricky to get a picture...and I really can't wait to replace the mirror.

My refrigerator. If you are thirsty, come on over. If you're hungry...that could be a problem. Also, our milk container was leaking, which is why it's in the lovely Fourth of July pitcher - we aren't usually that festive ;-)

Favorite room in the house. I love the kitchen because there is so much space and everyone hangs out around the island. Plus, I was already here photographing my fridge and sink.

My kitchen sink. Those are paintbrushes drying behind the towel, and the drawer tilts down for my sponges. I had the same tilt-down in my other house, which we sold to my friend Mindy - she called me like four months after they had moved in to tell me she'd JUST discovered it! We laughed so hard.

What my kids are doing right now

Harrison is having his favorite lunch of all time - a soft pretzel (lots of salt) and American cheese. It's sort of like a cheese sandwich. But not.

Sawyer conked out on us. He's no longer napping in his crib because he climbs out. We really need to switch him to a big boy bed, but I want to cry when I think about it. So here he is. And yes that's a binky and no I don't care if it messes up his teeth.

My favorite shoes. I love any of my J.Crew flip flops, these were on the top of the basket, so they were the lucky pair chosen for a photograph.

Your turn!

not fair!

I went on ONE measly ride at the fair last night, and was too sick to even look at the funnel cake (and let's face it, funnel cake is the only reason for going)

Jonathan said desperately "I went on with him last year" so I took one for the team.

Next year, I think we'll invite Nanny and Cappy - I know they would hate to disappoint Harrison and not ride the Hanglider with him. Blech! Never again!!!

favorites - right now

Food - I've been having pepper jack cheese and crackers for lunch every day

Drink - I am forever loyal to my Diet Coke

Fruit - fresh berries

Ice Cream - I am obsessed with Edy's Limited Edition Summer Peach Pie. Seriously, you need to try this before it's gone for the season!

Candy Bar - Symphony

TV Show - Design Star

Movie - so NOT like me, but I rented two movies last week, and adored them both! Dan in Real Life and 27 Dresses

Book - just finished this, and I pretty much want to home school my kids now. The world is so hard...

Sound - my kids squealing during water balloon fights

Smell - new hairspray, this stuff is great!

Sight - the boys riding on their Gator together around and around and around the yard they go!
Touch - Sawyer brought home baby Moses from Sunday School, he's a tiny little pom-pom - so soft

sneak peek

My blog will be getting a makeover next month! The kit is called Losing Control - which I think is fitting!

camping! minus the actual camping...

Every year our church's brother to brother ministry sponsors a weekend at Camp-Men-O-Lan. Our family isn't quite ready to spend the night in a tent, but we did drive down for the day!

First time fishing! I have to say I totally LOVED fishing! Probably because I didn't have to touch any of the bait, or handle any fish. It turns out I have natural casting skills - grown men, seasoned fishermen, people passing by in their boats, all complimented me. FOR REAL. Sadly, casting well, doesn't guarantee that you'll catch anything...cause we didn't.

Sawyer was a natural at tangling his line.

But he was abundantly more patient then his brother.
Harrison convinced us to lay down our poles and go on a canoe ride instead.

And when we got back for lunch, we were surprised to hear our names called for awards!
Okay, so everybody got an award - but still! Our boys were recognized for catching the most pond grass. Only the kids received plaques and prizes, otherwise I'm sure I'd have snagged the casting category!

And you can't leave camp without getting wet! After lunch we headed to the water slide. It's a true wonder to me that no one has been seriously injured on this thing. Tales were going down the line about how Stephen R. flew off the side two years ago and hit the wire link fence. And this year there was a chipped tooth and several bangs and bumps as the kids flew down "train style". Sawyer the significantly youngest slider in the group was a true favorite with the crowd. I wish I had taken a video, because he waved to everyone in the line each time he went down and they in turn chanted his name.

They better sleep well tonight!

sink or swim?

We started swim lessons this week and Harrison is swimming stronger then ever! As I suspected, Sawyer was very disappointed that he wasn't allowed in the pool. It's costing me dearly with (overpriced) treats from the snack shack to keep him happy. It's going to be a long 4 weeks!

So while I'm going off the deep end, Harrison is jumping off the diving board!

and flying down the slide! What great form!

more craziness coming soon
