let's go fly a kite

Early Saturday evening, Jonathan suggested we go buy a kite - what fun! If only we'd thought to buy TWO kites, that fun would have lasted more then five seconds. During "okay it's Sawyer's turn now!" the wind whipped it out of his hands and carried it across the street and a mile from our home. FOR REAL. Jonathan had to drive around looking for it, while I consoled Harrison by promising to buy two new kites (and possibly a spare in case of another unfortunate strong gust) tomorrow.

On Sunday, the elements were against us again! Despite the severe thunderstorm warning in effect, we attended an outdoor birthday party in the pouring rain. Thankfully, the huge wooden playground offered plenty of covered shelter (and no metal slides!) and the kids had the usually packed park to themselves (who else would be out in this?)

Harrison and the Birthday Boy - are we loyal friends, or what?

Jan, what a funny story... poor Jonathan, he is a great great great Dad, driving around trying to find a kite, what a gem! I can just imagine the kids faces as the kite flew through the sky and out of site, priceless. Glad it all worked out.
See ya later this afternoon.Love,
Mom

i think kites should be sold in a 2 pack and then things like this wouldn't happen. ;) and yes, you are very loyal to brave the elements in support of all things birthday. good for you!

They should put warning labels on kites that tell you to buy a second one or better yet like the above poster, just sell them in two packs or ten packs for that matter, lol.

COOLEST photo ever!

oh no! Your kite tale is truly tragic. :( That picture is amazing! You live in the most beautiful area! Look at all of that open space, rolling green hills, and that sky - incredible!!

Awesome kite picture. That is a funny story! Bummer your kite flying only lasted a little while. And, um, Carter is in LOVE with those Junk Food tees - he would wear one every day if I let him!
