jonathan's birthday

Since Jonathan is volunteering at VBS this week, we went out for his birthday dinner on Saturday. Our first time at PF Changs and I was unimpressed. To use some vocab I learned watching Top Chef, this was not Chinese, it was fusion food. It reminded me of our experience (also underwhelming) at Cheesecake Factory - we were both a little miffed as to why people LOVE these restaurants. Personally, if it's going to be a chain, make my reservations at Macaroni Grill, please!

Today Jonathan came home from work for a Birthday lunch and I was excited to break out my banner - I always forget I have this!

I made strawberry shortcake, because it's my favorite (selfish!) but out of season for my own birthday in October. He'll have a "real" birthday cake when we celebrate with his family next week.
And Harrison's not the only one with new shoes! Jonathan got a pair for his birthday, to replace the sneakers that lasted him EIGHT YEARS. Eight years, people! We bought them together when we were engaged, and some of you may remember I even dropped a tomato pie on them last Summer! This guy takes good care of his stuff! Actually, he says I should take a lesson from him - HA!

Jan, it was very nice of you to make his day so special, I know how excited the kids were to celebrate his BD. As for the lesson learning.... I won't go there (ha ha)
Love,
Mom

Awesome picture of you guys - so cute as always. And I love your banner and your shortcake looks heavenly. We share you sentiment about Cheesecake factory. The food is good but not worth the price, in my opinion. My family loves it though so we end up there a lot. And you already know my feelings on Mac Grill :) Glad he had a great day.

Happy Bday!
It looks so festive with your cute banner. You crack me up as usual with your commentaries, but I agree PF Changs=not worth the hype. I do like the lettuce wraps but that's about all. Anyways, the cake looks fab.

Happy Birthday, Jonathan! You both look so happy and young. May this coming year bring you more heavenly wisdom, more joy, and more peace. May you find yourself loving your family so so much you just want to swallow them whole... and buy them shoes, handbags, pendants, etc. ;)

Seriously? I love PF changs. But not Macaroni Grill. Guess we won't be eating out together any time soon :0).

I got your message and I am still serious about the bag, LOL. I will call you this week. I hope.

OK--my BIL has the same tennis shoes that he had when Brian and I met in 1994...he still wears them daily AND bought them used to begin with. Maybe I could give you his number? (to give to Jonathan of course...)
