1. Whenever I know I am going out for dinner, I pretty much starve myself (good times!) all day, so I can really indulge. So, I showed up at the table ready to gnaw my arm off, and there weren't any crunchy noodles? There were dipping sauces, which one would assume were for crunchy noodles, but none ever appeared. And they weren't on the other tables either, I was fully prepared to go steal a bowl if we had just been overlooked by our waiter.
2. Of course we ordered an appetizer (since I was starving!) and NOW I know that we should have opted for lettuce wraps. My brother called the next day to say we'd gotten it all wrong ordering the Crab Wontons. Normally, I don't eat anything green (which is why the lettuce wraps didn't even cross my mind!) but I trust my brother, since he convinced me at Maggiano's to taste the spinach manicotti and that was delish. The crab wontons? Jonathan and I agreed they were pretty awful. Even though I was ravenous at this point, I only ate one, which should tell you how not tasty they were.
3. Finally, our meal arrived along with one small bowl of white rice. Now, I love to mix my sauce with rice, and so I asked if we could get a second bowl of rice. Usually your meal comes with rice (is this just me???) and the waiter made me feel like he was doing a great big favor even though we'd ordered TWO meals? I understand this is family style, but seriously, there was not enough rice to share!
4. What we had intended to share were our entrees. This didn't pan out because
(a) Jonathan's Walnut shrimp were slathered in MAYONNAISE. Is that Chinese? I don't think so! I was so perplexed by this, I actually asked the waiter what the sauce was, and he confirmed my suspicion. MAYO, for real? This was unexpected and gross, I hate
(b) My Crispy Honey Shrimp was actually pretty delicious! But it was also spicy! Even though the menu was supposed to show a little symbol next to spicy dishes. Good for me, since I like spicy, but Jonathan couldn't touch it - he is a "mild" kind of guy.
So there you have it! I feel like I should have a fifth reason, but I don't. And in fairness, I should also tell you that our Flourless Chocolate Dome for dessert was excellent.
Anne/Monique - Penne Rustica, ANY time, ladies! And my new favorite thing is to create my own pasta in Aribiatta sauce with shrimp, garlic and buffalo mozzarella. YUM!
Andrea - we would never stop shopping long enough to eat.

OK. Got a good laugh out of that.
Your reasons are very valid...and you are so right...mayo is not Chinese.
Jan, stick to Yantzee and Abacus, they are the best PLENTY of rice. How can it be a chinese restaurant without noodles and dipping sauces, I say PF is a big imposter!
Can't wait to see the boys later.
Mom
Not a fan of PF Changs either. Your feelings on The Cheesecake Factory are unjust though. You might need help with ordering because that place is delish! ;)
I love PF Changs but I can honestly say I've never ordered any of those dishes. :P Sorry you were disappointed! The mayo shrimp sound nasty.
Happy Birthday Jonathan!
You know what? Last time I was at Chang's I ordered something kinda nasty and they took it back with no problem and brought me something new. Just a head's up incase you find yourself dining there again and end up with mayo slathered food, ewwwww. Also, ask for more rice they will bring it to you. But I'm glad the chocolate cake was tasty. I wish I had your self control to starve myself on restaurant days but nope can't do it, my kids suffer the consequences of a hungry b*tchy mom and it's not fair to them. Ok, I'm writing a novel so I had better hit publish, lol.
LOL, Nicole...hunger is directly related to my b*tchiness as well!!
Last time Jeff and I went to PF Chang's the gave us one small bowl of rice too. I remember thinking we should have each got one too!
Jan, I love ya! You are so hilarious!
funny, funny girl. You've convinced me!
Okay, since I ate at PFC both Friday and Sunday nights, I feel inclined to tell you that they DO have wonton noodles. You have to ask for them. They come in a big white bowl with warm duck sauce. My kids love them. My mom loves that shrimp dish J. got, but she also likes mayo. I have never tasted it so I don't know. And I like the crab wontons! Maybe you had a bad batch? Dude, the banana spring rolls are AWESOME too. I'm sorry you had a bad experience, but I love the food there! Oh, and they brought us white and brown rice when we went -- two big bowls. shrug
You have to ASK for the crunchy noodles? Stingy! I may never go back, now!
But if I do...lettuce wraps, orange beef...I'll bring my notes ;-)
I like mayo fine but as you described it- ick! Mayo is NOT chinese!
OMG, I am so laughing because I thought I was the only one who hated Chang's, lol! It's hardly even Chinese (hello MAYO). Luckily we have plenty of other tastier options, but there aren't any restaurants here that bring you free rice or won ton strips.
But don't be dissing the Cheesecake Factory. It has something for everyone, I'm with Jenn in that you just haven't ordered the right thing yet.
Sorry Chang's wasn't a hit...I am sad for you as I LOVE it...the only thing I have ever ordered on your list was honey crispy shrimp and that is one of my favs...Adisyn likes the crunchy white noodles that are served underneath the lettuce wraps...we ask for a bowl of those! LOL I also love mongolian beef....and Cheesecake Factory! LOL....But in all fairness I have never been to a Macaroni Grill...I think you got a bum waitor too as we usually get brown and white rice and don't get grief over it!
